Halloween Mystery Hike Oct 22nd, 2011
The Friends of Mirror Lake and Mirror Lake State Park will be hosting their annual Halloween Candlelight Hike on Saturday October 22, 2011 from 6 pm to 8 pm. This fun family event includes an easy 1 mile torch lit hike. Kids of all ages can help find clues along the way to discover this year’s mystery guest. Then gather around the bonfires for delightful evening with family and friends. There will be snacks and beverages offered by the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park for purchase. Candlelight Ski/Snowshoe Feb 5, 2011
Time again for the Candlelight Ski/Snowshoe evening at Mirror Lake State Park this Saturday, Feb 5th. Sponsored by the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park, this event will offer two trails lit by torches. One trail is an easy 0.8 mile trail that will be available for everyone to use. The other trail is an easy 1-mile trail for classical skiing. The Friends will have a couple of roaring bonfires to warm up by, and food, drinks and goodies for sale. Meet at the Beach Picnic area for a wonderful evening! 6-8 p.m!
Learn To Ski or Snowshoe!
Learn to cross country ski or snowshoe at Mirror Lake State Park, Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at 2pm. There will be lessons followed by a trail outing. Join the Mirror Lake State Park Friends Group for a fun winter afternoon of instruction and recreation! Of course, you don’t have to go home because from 6pm to 8pm the fun continues with the annual Candlelight ski & shoeshoe festivities. Two trails will be lit by torches. Fall Colors Won’t Last
This photo was taken this morning (10-11-2010) from the beach at Mirror Lake State Park. As you can see it’s still pretty colorful but slipping quickly toward brown. If you want to enjoy fall colors at Mirror Lake we’d suggest that you do it within the next 7 days at most. Remember too that the Candlelight Mystery Hike is coming up on the 23rd. Bright the whole family for this fun fall family event!!

Halloween Hike OCT 24th
Oct 24th from 5:30 – 8:30 Mirror Lake State Park will be holding it’s annual Halloween Candlelight Hike. This is one of our family’s favorite events! We start the day early by heading to Sky High Apple Orchard near Devil’s Lake State Park. From there we drive on over to Wollersheim Winery in Sauk Prairie for a glass of wine among the vineyards. From there we’re off to Mirror Lake State Park to enjoy a hike through the woods and a snack provided by the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park. What a great day!
*update: The (non-scary) Mystery Hike will take you along an easy 1 mile torch lit trail. Bring your thinking cap and meet down at the beach picnic area for an exciting hike. After the hike, stay warm by the bonfires and enjoy brats, hotdogs, snacks and refreshments that the Friends of MLSP will have for sale. Costumes are optional but definitely welcome! State Park Admission Sticker is required for vehicle parking.
Candlelight Hike & Ski This Saturday
I just had an email come from Jan Primus who is the President of the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park reminding everyone that this Saturday night is the annual Candlelight Hike & Ski at Mirror Lake. It looks like daytime temperatures may get close to 40f which is much more agreeable that it has been recently. So why not do a little something about that cabin fever and head over to Mirror Lake State park on Saturday from 6-8PM. There will be hot drinks and baked goods available as well as a big fire to warm yourselves up. If you have any questions just call the park at 608) 254-2333.
